When you first see our 6 Bedroom piquant Cottage home stay in Srinagar, Kashmir, there is going to be only one thought in your mind: “How can there be so much beauty in one place?” Well, we obviously don’t know how, but we do know that the Zaharwan range in the background, and cherry, plum and apple trees in the backyard, make this cottage, one of the most breathtaking holiday experiences. It is here that you will learn how it is possible to use nature without abusing her.

You have to take a boulevard from the Dal Lake to reach this cottage. You will need to travel through long winding path between orchards amidst pristine beauty of the mountains. And, even the photographs published here are unable to match the sheer beauty of this 80-year old colonial bungalow, standing quietly and quaintly.  Each day here will give you a feeling being transported back into time as you relax against retro beds and chairs. Each day can give you a feeling of travelling back in time as you climb tress and pluck fruits.

The other exciting facet of this lovely yet safe budget hotel in Srinagar is the food cooked from organic vegetables grown in the estate. Let the service staff know your needs in advance to enjoy fresh and delicious home cooked meals. While not indulging in food, scenery or childhood antics, do take out time to visit Dal Lake and take a ride in the Shikara. And, to visit the other places of interest, you can always call for a cab. In fact, a trip to the Golf course that is surrounded by the Himalayas can also be arranged on request.

Hospitality and nature at its best are waiting to welcome you at this cottage in Srinagar. You will never have your fill of this home stay, but when it is time to leave, along with other souvenirs of Kashmir, do remember, to buy jams and preserves made in the cottage kitchen with fruits plucked from their own orchards

About Location

Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits.
The city is located on both the sides of the Jhelum River which is called Vyath in Kashmir. The river passes through the city and meanders through the valley, moving onward and deepening in the dal Lake. The city is famous for its nine old bridges, connecting the two parts of the city.

Srinagar is one of several places that has been called the "Venice of the East" or the "Kashmiri Venice" It is known for its lakes, which include Dal Lake – noted for its houseboats – and Nagin Lake.

Srinagar has some Mughal gardens, forming a part of those laid by the Mughal emperors across the Indian subcontinent. In close vicinity of Srinagar include Chashma Shahi (the royal fountains); Pari Mahal (the palace of the fairies); Nishat Bagh (the garden of spring); Shalimar Bagh; and the Naseem Bagh.

The  Villa is a lovely red building that seems warm and welcoming. It overlooks the Dal lake and the location is convenient to get to other tourist attractions as well. Our family of three was welcomed by Jyoti Singh, the gracious owner of the property who also gave us helpful suggestions on places to visit and eat. Our room on the first floor was clean ,spacious and well decorated. The building is old but amenities are quite modern. The food is simple and delicious. We had lovely home made apricot jam with Kashmiri breads for breakfast. We could order omlettes and parathas as well. They don't usually provide lunch but a simple homely dinner is provided on request. This is a cozy homestay and if you are not expecting five star luxury,Almond Villa is a great place to relax, enjoy the gardens and have access to the rest of Srinagar.Nirupma - Gurgaon

The charming villa is not just a homestay, it's a royal retreat. Nestled amongst apple, apricot chinar trees/ orchard, it's got the best view of the Dal lake. The rooms are very spacious. There are large living rooms on both floors. The food was home cooked and delicious. You can also get 'Almond Villa' jams made by the homestay owner ...The place has a retro, heritage feel with modern day comforts. The location can't be better. Very close to most popular places. The Dal Lake is just outside its gates, and you can go for a ride there and then. You can easily stay here for a couple of days. Ideally it's not a place with kids. For the ambience, location and comfort, it's quite right priced.Would highly recommend to people who are looking for the old world charm & home away from home!Manish Sinha - Gurgaon

A beautiful villa, overlooking the Dal Lake. The owner, a charming lady, has with a lot of enthusiasm put together six wonderful rooms for visitors to enjoy. The villa is nestled between almond trees, peach trees, apple trees an other fruit trees. A wonderful place to spend time. We went visiting and were mesmerised. K.Y. Singh, Gorgaon

Our trip to kashmir and the beautiful memories we got back from there could never had been complete without Our stay at the royal yet homely Villa. Apart from having the best location and view of the dal lake amidst the almond trees the place serves you with delicious homely food and warmth of the people serving it...should give a special mention of the great hospitality and friendliness of our hostess Jyoti. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and above all very hygienic. Would love to go back again...Prema Dasgupta -Vadodara.
